My name is Elizabeth Smuts and I currently teach the extension programmes at Hauraki Primary School. I am passionate about teaching and learning, not just in the classroom, but also in my own personal growth. I have a 3-year Teaching Diploma, and in 2008 I completed a Bachelor of Education Degree in Special Ed. at Massey University.
I have taught previously as an intermediate school classroom teacher at Greenmeadows Intermediate in Manurewa, before moving on to Wairau Intermediate on the North Shore. After a year of my appointment, I was promoted to Senior Teacher and remained there for a further 6 years. During that time, I was also Science Curriculum Leader and a member of the North Harbour Science & Technology Committee.
In 1997, my family and I immigrated to New Zealand from South Africa, where I taught at high school for almost 11 years. I am married and have two sons, aged 20 and 16.
